This guide is on how to use iCEnhancer (Other enb mods aswell) on laptops with Nvidia Optimus(5XXm and above) Technique from here forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/549049-for-nvidia-optimus-users-guaranteed-fix-for-post-process-injectors-using-d3d9dll/It has 90% chance of working and works on ALL versions of GTA IV ,but usually you will get less FPS (Because laptop cards arent that fast) You can either install iCEnhancer then do this or either way around Here's what you do 1 First backup your GTAIV.exe or EFLC.exe because we are going to hex edit it and you can try again or just restore it if you screw up 2 Download a hex editor ,preferably XVI32 (Link- www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm ) I am going use XVI32 3 Open XVI32 and click on 'File then click on 'Open' ,Browse to GTA IV /EFLC root folder and open GTAIV.exe /EFLC.exe 4 Now press CTRL+F and search for 'd3d9.dll' (Type it in exactly it ) ,Now change it to d3fx.dll(click on the 'd' then type ' d3fx.dll ' ) there will be one more instance so repeat the above steps once again 5 After that click on 'File' then click 'save' 6 Then you can install iCEnhancer (If already done skip to step 7) 7Just rename the d3d9.dll in GTA IV rpot folder to d3fx.dll 8 Start the game and enjoy If it fails then replace with the backed up GTAIV.exe/EFLC.exe Note:FPS will not be that high Leave a thanks if i helped ^.^ PS-I will make a graphic guide later

Thanks BTW i got a GTA IV Steam version so it might be 1.0.7.0 1) Remove all instanced of Microsoft Games for Windows Live. 2) Reinstall it from www.gamesforwindows.com/en-US/download/3) Dont bother logging into to M$ Games for Windows Live 4) GTA4 should start up just fine. Be sure to uninstall all mods, reinstall your GTA IV completely.

Thanks BTW i got a GTA IV Steam version so it might be 1.0.7.0 I think renaming the d3d9.dll causes the problem(I had the same problem on EFLC ) ,Try using xliveless public.sannybuilder.com/GTA4/xliveless-0.999b7.rar(But no multiplayer since xliveless remove ability to use multiplayer)

Okay, so I tried this, and this is probably really nooby, but I could only change one of the two d3d9.dll files to d3fx.dll because when I tried to change the other one it would always pop up with "There is already a file with this name, change it too d3fx(2).dll instead" and when I tried copying and pasting the one that I changed to d3fx.dll first then I would get d3fx.(copy)dll. I tried playing the game like this and it didnt say mod was active up in the top left hand corner and the graphics, while they were different from default, were all muddy and blurry and far to dark, plus I had to sign in to windows live. Any way I can make both files say the EXACT same thing?

I think youve got all wrong ,Please read the guide again carefully or else just tell me which version of GTA IV are you using (Retail or boxed -1.0.4.0 or Steam-1.0.7.0) I will upload the respective modified exe which you just have to replace

Yeah, calling me a modding rookie might be a bit of an overstatement. Anyway, I tried what you said and I don't think I did it right, because the same thing is happening. I installed xliveless by dragging it out of winrar and putting it into the GTAIV folder, and i think that worked, as i didnt get any sign of windows live. The other thing though, i dont think so. First I deleted the file GTAIV, which had 14.7 gb of data and seemed identical on the surface as the file i downloaded in the link you left. after i did that, i tried starting the game and nothing happened, not even an error pop up, absolutely nothing. I waited for about 10 minutes and still nothing. So then I tried deleting another file, it said GTAIV.exe and was only something like 300 kb and i dont know what it was used for. The game started with alot of fuzzy stuff and still no walss or floors, i think it was the same as before. i found out later that this whole time the that one of the two d3d9.dll files said d3d9(2).dll, im not sure if that matters or not, as it didnt used to say that. are there any things or programs i ned downloaded that you didnt list? like some kind of uncompressor or unzipper? i have winrar and thats what ive been using, but some of the files are ZIP files. I'm sorry I'm so bad at this, but I really do appreciate all the help you're giving me!

absolutely stupid in my opinion. if you want to run a mod like icenhancer, have the decency to get a better computer.

I had a backup, so I just used that again. I have the steam version, so I usually use the verify game cache to retrieve lost files, and then the game works perfectly. There were four GTAIV.exe files in the GTAIV main folder, one was GTAIV which had the logo as an icon and 14.7 gb of data, which using my backup i replaced immediatly, a GTAIV.exe which was 123 kb and was listed as a security catalog, and GTAIV.exe.cdf which was a cdf file, and finally GTA.exe.cfg. Those were the GTA.exe's that I found, maybe I was looking in the wrong place. ddn: I have a feeling that the problem isn't my computer, its my modding skills, or lack thereof
