This was copied from a thread I posted on the Steam forums. No one responded, so I figured I'd come here.
So I've been trying to install an Icehancer/ENB preset for... a while now. Every time I attempt to do so, something horrible always happens. I have a decent rig; I can run just about anything, usually on "medium" presets and I can run GTA IV on max settings without any problems. But Icenhancer really messes me up. So once and for all I want to find out if it's user error or if it's my system literally incapable of running such beauties as Icenhancer.
Here's an example of what happens to my game after installing everything: As you can see, everything is horribly out of order. Another interesting thing I discovered was that the mod drastically decreased my memory capacity from roughly 1200 MB to 123. I lowered every single setting to the bare minimum and I still exceeded the limit.
Here is the EXACT process that I use for installing Icenhancer Mods, as I have been instructed by countless tutorials and readme files:
I install the game, and then immediately downgrade it to 1.0.4.0 for obvious reasons. Then I install Xliveless. From there, I download the Icenhancer and empty all of it's contents into my main GTA directory (...steamapps/common/GrandTheftAutoIV/GTAIV). Then I open the game, and everything hits the fan (see above images).
Here are my system specs (as reported by System Requirements Lab)
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-2450M CPU @ 2.50GHz
CPU Speed: 2.5 GHz Performance Rated at: 6.25 GHz
RAM: 3.9 GB (For whatever reason it shows as 3.9 even though I'm 99% sure I have 4 GB)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
Video Card: Nvidia GeForce GT 630M
Sound Card: Intel(R) Display Audio
If you need any more info, ask and I'll post it.
Many thanks.
