Hey guys, I just installed everything correctly and was just messing around with some car models and now every time I play I get an error message. It usually happens within a couple of minutes of starting up the game and playing. The error message reads: GTA IV FATAL ERROR: Unrecoverable fault - Please restart the game. Any help to stop this issue will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Matt

You need to restore these to the original: vehicles.img, handling.dat, vehicles.ide, carcols.dat
When you do this install only one car mod at a time, and build it up gradually.

Ok thanks for the info but I was only installing one car mod at a time. But I was just switching the same car model over and over and over. Also forgot to mention I was using version 1.3, should I just upgrade it to the new 2.0?
Edit: Also how do I restore those to default?
Thanks

You needed to back them up in the first place. If you didn't you need to reinstall the whole game. That would be best, because then you could install 2.0 as well. And use this for install car mods. You don't evven need to unzip or unrar the files: www.gta4-mods.com/tools/gta-iv-vehicle-mod-installer-v13-f14302EDIT: I'd wait for 2.1 first, it's nearly finished.

Haha yeah I guess that is my fault for not backing them up. This is my first time ever attempting to mod, so I am surprised I got this far really. Thanks for all the info I will definitely just reinstall, back up my files, and wait for 2.1.

SMPA60 or something? During playing? It's probably saved cars in parking spots. Start a new game, if the problem doesn't exist anymore, get the default vehicles file, drive all parked cars away, save, and then reput your modded vehicles file.

Thanks, I haven't had time to uninstall yet so I will try that. And I am hoping it is because I do have the modded car parked on the parking spot.

Turns out the parked car was the problem. No crashes yet, thanks for the help both of you. Also can you not park modded cars in parking spots or else you will get that error every time?

It may be only everytime you replace the parked car, EG: Mustang parked at Broker safehouse.......replace mustang with ferrari and then you get the error.
